Less Shocking Than Real Life
LONDON-Storylines in EastEnders are less shocking than real life, according to a new study.
The New Scientist's research accuses the soap of underplaying basic human nastiness over the course of the last 18 years. For example it found that incidences of infidelity are much higher in real life than in Walford.
Nevertheless, the researchers conclude that the soap's continuing popularity rests with the fact its plot lines play out primal human behaviours such as infidelity, deceit and murder.
