Esta on Dan
I first met Dan Abramson one evening at a WLIW-NY pledge drive. We just happened to sit next to each other while working the phones. Being a very chatty guy, Dan started talking to me as if we'd know each other for ages. I was immediately enchanted by the sheer volume of topics he could discuss, and in depth. His sense of humor was second to none, and he was incredibly smart. At some point he drops in to the conversation the name "Francois Villon," a French poet from the12th or 13th century (memory fades.) I burst out laughing: I, as a once-upon-a-time French language and literature major, might tend to know such a thing; but how many other people would know this? And how many would drop it into casual conversation? Dan was clearly one of the few. We were friends after that. I will miss his laser sharp wit, his wonderful, acerbic wit, and even his sarcasm. He was an original.
